How to prepare for your first visit to the endocrinologist?

To make your visit as effective as possible, prepare:

Documents:

  • Parental analyses (if available)
  • USG finding of the thyroid gland
  • Past medical records
  • List of medicines you take

Pre-visit tests:

  • TSH, T4, T3 (thyroid)
  • Glucose, HbA1c (diabetes mellitus)
  • Calcium, vitamin D

When you go to the doctor:

  • Analyses on an empty stomach in the morning
  • If you are taking thyroid medication - we recommend a blood test before your morning dose to get more accurate free T4 results

Questions to prepare:

  • What illnesses run in the family?
  • When did the symptoms start?
  • Have you tried any diets?
