What are the signs of thyroid disease?

The thyroid gland is one of the most important endocrine glands, regulating the body's metabolism.

Hypothyroidism (weak thyroid gland):

  • Constant tiredness and drowsiness
  • Cold intolerance
  • Weight gain
  • Dry skin and hair loss
  • Constipation
  • Deterioration of memory

Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland):

  • Heart palpitations and tremors
  • Weight loss with normal appetite
  • Heat intolerance and sweating
  • Insomnia and anxiety
  • Eye bulging (in Basedow's disease)

Dr Caune performs a thyroid ultrasonography and prescribes the necessary tests (TSH, T4, T3, antibodies).
